Caroline and Justin were married on New Years day and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. Who would have thought it would be almost 60 degrees in January?! I fell in love with Caroline, Justin + Caroline’s mother, Nancy, at our very first meeting. Caroline envisioned a unique celebration and was certain that she wouldn’t wear a white wedding dress. why not kauai?

Recently, I was lucky enough to do a little destination wedding “research” in Kauai. While there, I stayed at the gorgeous St. Regis, Princeville. There are so many reasons why I fell in love with this location: the stunning décor, the incredible, breath-taking views, the pristine infinity pool, the soft, white-sand beach, the gentle waves of Hanalei Bay and the incredible sunsets! This intimate resort has to be one of the most romantic places on Earth! During my stay, I had the opportunity to become familiar with the work of the very talented Martin Roberts Design group, who provides all of the floral décor for the resort. Melissa + Kevin were married at the Halcyon House (one of my most favorite DC venues) and the day couldn't have been more perfect. M + K envisioned a clean and sleek event with lots of delicious food. They're total foodies and their menu was one of the best that I've seen. We're talking a raw bar paired with vodka, tapas and sangria, peking duck and sake, three course plated dinner and my personal fave- sweets. It was so much fun working with M + K and helping them personalize their day. Thank you to our fabulous team of vendors and to Michelle Lindsay for the photos. Congrats, Melissa + Kev!

We had so much fun participating in the Washingtonian's fabulous bridal event, Unveiled, this past Sunday! It's always great to meet new brides and catch up with some of our favorite vendors! For our space, we went with a soft + spring-y feel. The freezing temperatures and snow have us counting the days until spring (and spring weddings!). I'm finding myself with a serious case of writer's block. It's impossible to put into words how much I adore Claire + Jason. They're so special and their wedding is one that I'll always hold near and dear to my heart. My first meeting with Claire was over coffee (more than two years ago). We sat and chatted for over three hours. I left giddy and hopeful that Claire would "pick me." I'm so thankful that she did and even more thankful for the incredible friendship that we've developed. One of my lovely brides recently introduced me to the stunning work of Nancy Howell and I was immediately smitten! Nancy can produce pretty penmanship in a variety of styles. I'm a little obsessed with the beautiful designs of My Sweet and Saucy. The California based sweet shop specializes in modern looking desserts that "taste as good as they look." The Sweet and Saucy site is filled with loads of eye candy and {sweet} inspiration. Sweet and Saucy recently launched an online supply shop where you can purchase the prettiest cake stands, platters and domes that I've seen. These lovely little pieces are enough to make me want to take up baking!

Anousheh, Tom (I love an involved groom :)) and I were hard at work planning their wedding for almost a year. When the big day finally arrived, it couldn't have been more perfect. Despite the rain, it was a pretty sweet Monday. After months of swooning over her beautiful designs, I met Maggie Austin for a cake tasting. I was instantly in love with the presentation of Maggie's tasting. So clean, pretty and dainty. Oh, and the vintage cloth napkins had me too! My two (I couldn't pick just one) favorites were the lemon + Spanish olive oil pound cake (not a smidge of butter is used in this cake) with apricot ves + fiori di scilla buttercream and the double chocolate espresso cake with seville orange + la belle orange buttercream. Heaven! I hope you'll be able to sample these gorgeous delights, too.

I had so much fun helping Christina plan her "city chic" wedding. We used an ivory and eggplant palette with touches of chocolate brown. The monochromatic ivory ceremony was so striking. Clean and gorgeous! For the reception, we played off of the warm eggplant tones creating a dramatic, urban feel. Christina was such a stunning bride... my little Anne Hathaway! Vanessa and Zach were married at the super charming Darlington House in Dupont. The intimate ceremony and reception were full of sweet, personal touches. I especially loved the bride's bouquet (one of the most beautiful I have seen!), peony filled milk glass vases and the vintage suitcase, which held cards for the bride and groom. I have the best clients in the world! K + M are two of the sweetest and most fun loving people I've met. Such a complete joy to know them. K + M met in their high school Spanish class. High school sweethearts- I love that. I also love that they still have that giddy "new love" excitement for each other. It just melts my heart! I love the month of May for so many reasons. The sunshine, my sweet hubby's birthday, my wedding anniversary (4 years on the 20th!), Mother's Day, farmers markets, sundresses, and peonies. Big, fluffy, beautiful peonies! My most favorite flower. There's something about these lush, delicate, romantic blooms that make me so happy. Engaged! at the Four Seasons

The days are flying by and wedding season is upon us! Being a part of Engaged! Magazine's bridal event last month was the perfect way to kick off our season. We were thrilled to be at the Four Seasons with some of the best (we're talking creme de la creme!) wedding professionals in DC. I feel so lucky to work in a city with such ah-mazing talent! Our team showcased a wedding for all four seasons and I think it came together perfectly! I didn't get to visit the other hotels that participated in the event but from the photos it looks like everyone really outdid themselves.

It's time for a little spring cleaning! One of my brides told me about a great effort that the wonderful ladies of Hitched are making. The 5th Annual Hitched Dress Drive benefiting Princess for a Night begins today. Stop by Hitched to donate your gently worn bridesmaid dresses, which will go to students in the community. Your once worn bridesmaid dress could be someone's prom dress! My closet isn't quite as full as Katherine Heigl's in 27 Dresses (phew!) but I definitely have a few that I would love to pass along.

I'm so stinkin' excited about this post I can barely type. How can one be so giddy over handmade flowers?! I guess it's easy when they're this beautiful. I can't help but think of all the lovely ways to incorporate these pretties into a wedding- bouquets, gown or shoe accessory, bouts, hair piece, ring pillow or even to dress up the wrapping for bridesmaid gifts. I'm kind of a lover of any and all things sweet so I was thrilled when I received a special treat in the mail... DC chocolate! Apres Peau is a great little shop located on K Street where you can find all sorts of unique DC themed goodies and gifts. I especially love the signature chocolates (of course!) which have kitschy names that pay tribute to DC landmarks. What a perfect favor for a Washington, DC wedding. I'm big on edible favors... sweet ones. I'd be a happy guest if I were given a Washington Monumint or Smithsonian Salty Pretzel candy bar!

It's true- I'm obsessed with the Crew. Although my husband doesn't appreciate my addiction, I like to remind him that there are many worse habits. Afterall, he should be glad that my only addiction is beautiful garments from J. Crew! I'm still working on that one :) I love that J. Crew can outfit the whole bridal party (the fellas, too). One of my besties wore a J. Crew wedding gown and she couldn't have been more stunning. No one would have ever guessed that her gown cost less than $700!

It was just another Wednesday afternoon. I was sitting in the lobby of a DC hotel, talking with one of my lovely brides, when I noticed the most fabulous pair of tights. Naturally, I look up to checkout the rest of the ensemble and find... SJP! Seriously?! She's strolling through the lobby (very low key) looking completely Carrie Bradshaw. I die. My celebrity sighting could not have been any better! SJP was in Washington, DC this week for the 2009 National Medal of Arts/National Humanities presentation (photo below). Highlight of my week!

The collection is fun, stylish and your girls really can wear them again. I know we always hear that but this time it's true! I'm partial to short bridesmaid dresses (especially with matching shoes!) but found a couple of floor length gowns that have me swooning, too. Maggie and Brad are such a beautiful couple- inside and out! I loved getting to know them and being a part of such a special day. Maggie looked stunning in her Vera Wang gown (every bride's dream!) and my heart melted after seeing Brad's face light up when he saw his bride for the first time. Rodney Bailey did a completely amazing job capturing the day. Rodney's work always blows me away so I knew I would have a hard time narrowing my photo selection down! loving lace!

I seemed to have developed a little obsession with lace. Lace is so soft, so romantic, so sweet... so chic! There are so many ways in which a bride can incorporate lace into her wedding day. I love the idea of a rustic vineyard wedding with old wooden farm tables and vintage lace table runners. Such a fabulous combination. Wrapping simple mason jars and glass containers in lace provides an instant (and inexpensive!) vintage feel. It's all about the little details!

Margaret and I met at the Washingtonian Unveiled Bridal Event last January and immediately hit it off. It felt like we had known one another for ages! I loved every minute of helping Margaret and Nathan plan their wedding. Margaret and I focused on the little details and special touches. We wanted their guests to experience something new and walk away feeling as though it was the best party they had ever attended. The day was perfect and I've definitely been feeling withdrawal. Totally normal for me, though! A special thank you to Danielle, at the Ronald Reagan Building, and to Deb Lindsey for the beautiful photos. I also have to give a shout out to Nick Perez, of Multiflor, for the completely stunning flowers. Nick really understood the vision and brought it to life. Thank you to our incredible team of vendors!

I'm amazed by the snow outside of my window! It's so pretty and couldn't have come at a more perfect time. It was so nice to have a snow day the week before Christmas. Snowmen, baking and present wrapping- such a fun way to spend a Saturday!

I'm so excited to share a few beautiful photos from Melissa and Wilson's wedding (shot by my dear friend and fab photographer Jennifer Hughes). I had so much fun working with and getting to know this completely lovely couple! I love that I talked to Wilson almost daily... I'm used to doing most of the planning with the bride. Not this time! Wilson was just as involved as Melissa and the three of us had a blast! Melissa and I had Wilson talking gobos, chiavaris and "chic" decor elements :) I feel very lucky to have gained two wonderful friends. I love "y'all!"

How do I begin to describe my love for Mindy, Eric and their beautiful wedding?! I'm finding myself with a serious case of writer's block as I begin this post. I'm filled with emotion as I reflect on Mindy and Eric, our planning journey (I miss it!) and their incredible day. Mindy and Eric share a love that is so genuine. If you're looking for a fresh and unique space with a city-chic feel, look no further! I attended an event, hosted by my fabulous friend Heidi with Room Service, on Tuesday night at Longview Gallery. Longview is an art gallery with raw event space... a completely blank canvas! The wheels in my head have been turning since the moment I walked in. Exposed concrete, brick walls, open space and an outdoor patio! What could be better?!

Kristine, of K. Rose Cakes, made the most fabulous cake for Meghan and Jake's wedding last weekend. Everything about it was just so chic- the black and white, the flowers, the clean lines and, of course, the silhouette. I was so excited when Kristine arrived with the cake- I couldn't stop gushing! Ali and Rob are one of the sweetest couples I have met! Always smiling and happy... such a joy to have met them. Ali and Rob were married at Dahlgren Chapel and the reception followed at the always stunning Women's Museum. One of my favorites! Everything about the day was just so sweet- the couple, the flowers, the candy "garden." Yum-O! I'll never forget the moment when Ali, her sister and I were walking to the Chapel (in the pouring rain!) and Ali smiled and said "I'm kinda liking the rain." Such a happy bride- a little (a lot, actually) bit of rain wasn't going to put a damper on her day! The National Museum of Women in the Arts is one of my favorite DC venues. It's so elegant and unique to the city. Ali and Rob were married last month and held their reception at the Women's Museum. It was such a beautiful backdrop for their very chic Washington, DC wedding! Tony, with Imijination Photo, sent me a few shots of the space and our fun candy "garden." Last Thursday I hosted an event, along with fellow planners and dear friends Pam and Laura, at Josephine. We joined forces to throw our second annual "goodbye to summer" cocktail party honoring DC's premiere event professionals. The DC event industry is filled with so many wonderful and talented people. What a great city it is for planning a wedding! For those of you who have never been to Josephine, it's a must! The decor is completely fabulous (think French chic) so we really played up on the look and feel of the lounge. It was a great night and so much fun to catch up with some of our favorite industry friends!
